2008 F1 Singapore
Being the first night race in F1 history, Singapore put on a phenomenal show which they should be proud of. The lights, the skyline, the cars, the crowd, and the city overall, made for a fantastic new addition to the annual F1 calendar.
As for the race, it will always have a place in F1 history given the Renault "Crash Gate" scandal and fiasco which involved Nelson Piquet Jr. being asked by the team to "crash" his car (!!) in order to bring out the Safety Car, thereby allowing his team mate, the ever loved (!!) Alonso, to seek an advantage in the race. Of course Alonso went on to get his 1st win of the season ... but at what cost?
The race was also special for the Williams team and Nico Rosberg who took his first career podium.
One team that will certainly look to forget the race was Ferrari ... 0 points and yet another disastrous pit stop ... a stunning moment as Felipe Massa left his pit stop with the fuel hose still attached to the car !
As for McLaren, they took 3rd place for Hamilton and took the overall lead in Constructor's Championship ... so not too bad a weekend.
